Free January Community Read-Alouds & Activities
Rally to Read’s January theme is Responsibility, and this month, we’re helping kids think differently about money. These stories go beyond spending to explore how the choices we make with money reflect our values, our generosity, and who we want to be. Through relatable characters and real-life situations, young readers learn to see themselves as thoughtful, values-driven decision-makers. This month includes two free author read-aloud videos for teachers and families plus a printable activity packet for Pre-K through 5th grade. All free from Reading Is Fundamental. How to Use These Resources in Your Classroom
These free responsibility read-aloud activities connect naturally to financial literacy lessons, New Year goal-setting discussions, and social-emotional learning units on decision-making and self-awareness. Use the videos to introduce the idea that money is more than something to spend — it reflects what we care about. Then use the activity packet for journaling, small group work, or family connection activities.
